Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking an Administrative Support Officer to join the Educational Psychology Service in Winchester. You will provide essential administrative support to Educational Psychologists working with children, families, schools and partner agencies across Hampshire.

This role requires an experienced administrator in a fast-paced environment, with strong IT skills in Microsoft 365, excellent written English, and the ability to manage deadlines, prioritise tasks, and deliver

Qualifications

  • GCSEs English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
  • Significant experience delivering a wide range of administrative functions.
  • Excellent written English; strong attention to detail and formatting documents in MS Word.

Responsibilities

  • Be the first point of contact for telephone calls and visits to the team, delivering excellent customer service.
  • Check and format confidential reports relating to children and young people, ensuring accuracy in grammar, spelling and presentation.
  • Process, distribute and maintain records and correspondence, ensuring statutory and corporate deadlines are met.
  • Coordinate training courses, conferences and events, including preparing materials, registers and communications.
  • Produce correspondence, reports and publications using Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Support financial processes, including payment requests and basic budget monitoring.
  • Gather data, manage competing priorities and provide administrative support across the service.

The Role:

Joining Hampshire Educational Psychology Service as an Administrative Support Officer, you'll be part of a supportive team that makes a real difference to the lives of children and young people across Hampshire.

An experienced administrator who thrives in a fast‑paced and varied environment, you’ll be a key member of our Administrative Support Team and provide comprehensive administrative support to Educational Psychologists working with children, young people, families, schools and partner agencies across Hampshire. You’ll play an instrumental role in ensuring our service runs smoothly and continues to deliver high‑quality support to children and young people.

What you’ll do:

What we’re looking for:
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics at Grade C/4 or above.
  • Significant experience delivering a wide range of administrative functions.
  • Excellent written English skills, with strong attention to detail and experience formatting documents in Microsoft Word.
  • High levels of IT skills, including Microsoft 365 applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook and OneNote.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people.
  • Proven organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and work independently.
  • A proactive team player who takes ownership, remains flexible and supports colleagues to achieve shared goals.
