Responsibilities

  • Word processing and preparation of correspondence.
  • Provide administrative cover for annual leave and sick leave.
  • Open, sort and distribute incoming mail.
  • Handle enquiries from staff, patients, relatives and carers; signpost and prioritise.
  • Carry out general clerical duties such as photocopying and filing.
  • Take minutes at meetings when required.
  • Order supplies and maintain stock levels.
  • Maintain existing systems and spreadsheets as directed.
  • Support administrative processes such as annual leave records.
  • Undertake other duties as required by the Area Support Manager.

An excellent opportunity has arisen to join the Administration Team at the Royal Northern Infirmary in Inverness. This role provides flexible administrative support across a range of departments, as required.

The successful candidate will have a good standard of general education, be computer literate, and possess strong communication and organisational skills. You will be able to work effectively as part of a team, as well as use your own initiative to prioritise workload in a busy and often noisy environment. A clear understanding of confidentiality is essential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Word processing and preparation of correspondence, including digital dictation
  • Providing administrative cover for annual leave, sickness absence, and general support within the team
  • Opening, sorting, and distributing incoming mail
  • Handling telephone, face-to-face, and email enquiries from staff, patients, relatives, and carersproviding information, signposting, and prioritising as appropriate
  • Carrying out general clerical duties such as photocopying and filing
  • Taking minutes at meetings when required
  • Ordering supplies and maintaining stock levels as requested
  • Maintaining existing systems and spreadsheets as directed
  • Supporting administrative processes such as annual leave records
  • Undertaking any other duties as required by the Area Support Manager
