Job summary

Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an Administrative Assistant for a part-time 15-hour week role at Monkwearmouth Hospital in Sunderland. The post involves reception duties, patient contact, and comprehensive administrative support to clinical teams.

The successful candidate will join a busy NHS service, must have NVQ2 in Business Admin and be able to work flexibly across service needs. DBS may apply and salary is pro rata to hours worked.

Qualifications

  • Good general level of education to O-Level/ GCSE or equivalent
  • NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Able to input data accurately and efficiently
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrates good Customer Care Skills
  • Good working knowledge of office procedures
  • Good organisational and planning skills using own initiative
  • Knowledge of working in an NHS environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive administrative and reception support to the clinical teams.
  • Greeting patients and visitors, responding to telephone and email enquiries, and undertaking reception duties.
  • Managing a shared inbox, arranging appointments and meetings, updating RiO patient information system, typing correspondence and reports.
  • Taking notes at team meetings, processing incoming and outgoing post, ordering supplies and reporting estates issues.
  • Support the wider administrative team and contribute to the day-to-day running of the service.
  • Use initiative, prioritise workload, maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced Administrative Assistant / Receptionist to join our busy community team based at Monkwearmouth hospital.

This is a part time role 2 days per week which will be covered depending on service need.The successful candidate must be flexible, adaptable and able to provide support across the service as required. Previous administrative experience, ideally within a similar environment, is essential.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and professional individual to join our friendly, dedicated and supportive administrative team. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the delivery of high-quality administrative support within a healthcare environment while interacting with patients, carers and professionals on a daily basis.
