Job summary

High Down Schools are seeking to appoint an Administration Assistant to join our busy school office. This 23-hour-per-week role runs Monday to Friday, term-time only with 5 inset days, and is paid pro rata within a salary band.

You will handle enquiries, maintain school records and databases, support admissions and attendance, and provide general office and financial support while working closely with school staff and central teams.

The Role

High Down Schools are seeking to appoint a highly organised, professional and welcoming Administration Assistant to join our busy school office. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day administrative, financial and organisational processes of the school. As the first point of contact for pupils, parents, carers and visitors, you will provide a friendly and efficient service while helping to ensure the smooth running of school operations. The role includes a wide range of administrative responsibilities including managing enquiries, maintaining school records and databases, supporting admissions and attendance processes, preparing communications for families and providing general office support. You will work closely with school staff and the Lighthouse Schools Partnership central teams to deliver high-quality administrative support across the school community. This is a varied and rewarding role requiring excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, strong communication skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment

We are looking for someone who:
  • Is highly organised, methodical and able to work effectively in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions
  • Has experience working in an administrative, office or customer service role
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can build positive relationships with pupils, parents, staff and visitors
  • Can work with accuracy, attention to detail and complete confidentiality at all times
  • Has strong IT skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to accurately maintain school databases and records
  • Can manage sensitive information appropriately and exercise sound judgement
  • Has good time management skills and can prioritise workload effectively
  • Will actively contribute to the positive culture and values of both the school and the Lighthouse Schools Partnership
