Play a Key Role in Offender Management at HMP Doncaster

Serco is currently seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Admin Support Officer (ASO) to join the Offender Management Unit at HMP Doncaster. This is a critical support role within a high-paced and sensitive environment where accuracy, communication, and a commitment to public service are paramount.

You will be part of a dynamic team, supporting a range of OMU functions including sentence calculations, public protection processes, risk assessment coordination, and communication with internal and external agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintain and update prison recording systems (e.g., NOMIS, DPS) for all new admissions.
  2. Allocate offender cases to Prison Offender Managers (POMs).
  3. Interpret court documents, calculate sentences, and liaise with courts to rectify anomalies.
  4. Check information on all legal documents received from court, making assessments based on these in relation to public protection arrangements.
  5. Monitor phone calls/mail of relevant prisoners, record this appropriately, and report where necessary.
  6. Schedule and minute key meetings such as risk management panels and progression boards.
  7. Manage department mailboxes, track legal documentation, and coordinate communication between prison and outside agencies.
  8. Prepare release paperwork and ensure notification to all relevant bodies.
  9. Contribute to department performance and compliance with KPIs and standards.

What You’ll Need

  • GCSE English and Maths (Grade C or above).
  • Strong computer literacy, including Outlook and Excel.
  • High attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • Previous administrative experience, ideally within criminal justice, legal, or public sector environments.
  • Familiarity with offender management systems (e.g., NOMIS, DPS).
