Job summary

Tameside College in Ashton-Under-Lyne invites applications for Learning Support Facilitator - Aspirations. You will support learners with diverse needs across vocational subjects, working with tutors to break down barriers and help them access the curriculum.

Two posts are available: one permanent and one temporary, both part-time and pro-rata for 27.36 hours/week over 38 weeks. The role requires empathy, patience and the ability to motivate students to reach their full potential.

Qualifications

  • With some previous experience in supporting young people.
  • Understanding of issues facing young people with barriers to learning (social, emotional and behavioural).
  • Ability to motivate students with differing needs and abilities; excellent interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support learners across a wide range of vocational subjects and work with tutors to help access the curriculum.
  • Ensure individual learner needs are met and contribute to raising awareness of learners' needs in the college.
  • Provide emotional support and assist learners with personal care needs if required.
  • Remain calm and apply a problem-solving approach to managing challenging situations.

Learning Support Facilitator - Aspirations

27.36 hours per week over 38 weeks, 0.76 FTE

£25,493 - £29,358 (Pro-rota £19,374 - £22,312)

We have two positions available -

1 x permanent position

1 x temporary position, length of contract to be discussed at interview

As a Learning Support Facilitator in our Aspirations department, you will provide a range of support to learners with a variety of needs including difficulties/disabilities, Literacy, Numeracy and Language. You will also provide emotional support and encourage participation in the learning environment and may be required to support learners with personal care needs.

Here’s the standard bit: You will support learners across a wide range of vocational subjects and you will work alongside classroom tutors to break down barriers and ensure that learners are able to access the curriculum and reach their full potential. You will ensure that individual learner needs are met and contribute to raising awareness and understanding of the needs of individual learners in the wider college community.

What you’ll need:

With some previous experience in supporting young people, you will have a sound understanding of the range of issues facing young people with barriers to their learning (including social, emotional and behavioural) and have an ability to motivate students with differing needs and abilities. You will have excellent interpersonal skills in working with students, ability to remain calm and a problem solving approach to managing challenging situations.

We require a skilled and highly motivated individual to join our established Aspirations Team. You will have the passion to inspire every learner to reach their full potential regardless of their starting point.
