Job summary

Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust in Bath is seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to join the Surgical Assessment Unit (SAU). You will provide high quality care across general surgery and related specialties, and work within a busy, multidisciplinary team to support discharge planning.

The role requires NMC registration and may prefer experience on a surgical ward. The post includes commitment to patient‑centred care, staff wellbeing and professional development.

Qualifications

Must have NMC registration.

Responsibilities

Acting as a Named Nurse, to maintain accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of care within the framework of team nursing.
To coordinate the patients’ discharge arrangements in accordance with the RUH Discharge Policy.
To promote a patient focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant health professionals.
To educate patients and their carers as required where a need has been identified.
To provide information which enables patients to make choices about adopting a healthy lifestyle.
To complete patient documentation to Trust standard.
To maintain a safe ward/department environment.
To assist in establishing and monitoring protocols/care pathways.
To participate in the promotion and maintenance of effective communication.
To ensure patient confidentiality.
