Job summary

Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Staff Nurse in General Surgery to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care on the surgical ward in Bath. You will act as a named nurse, assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, and support colleagues across the multidisciplinary team.

You will mentor junior staff, participate in clinical supervision and contribute to continuous professional development while upholding the NMC Code and patient dignity.

Qualifications

• Able to evidence thorough and up to date knowledge of nursing theory and practice (3)
• Understanding of the NMC Code of Practice and requirements (3)
• Teaching and Assessing (3)
• Acute UK hospital experience (3)
• At least 6 months experience in hospital setting post qualifying (3)

Responsibilities

• Act as a Named Nurse, maintaining accountability for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care within a team nursing framework.
• Coordinate and facilitate timely, safe, and effective patient discharge planning in line with Trust policies and procedures.
• Deliver high-quality, patient-focused care, working collaboratively with colleagues across the multidisciplinary team.
• Support and educate patients, families, and carers to enhance understanding of health conditions, treatment plans, and recovery pathways.
• Promote healthy lifestyle choices and provide information to help patients make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and professional patient records and documentation.
• Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive ward environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
• Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of clinical protocols, guidelines, and care pathways to ensure best practice.
• Foster effective communication with patients, relatives, and colleagues to ensure excellent standards of care and teamwork.
• Uphold patient dignity, privacy, and confidentiality at all times.
