Job summary

NHS Dumfries & Galloway is seeking an experienced Team Leader to oversee Acute & Diagnostic Services administration teams in Dumfries & Galloway. You will provide day‑to‑day line management, support service improvement and staff development, ensuring high‑quality patient services.

Lead on staffing, workload coordination and the delivery of a patient‑focused administration function, working with senior managers and clinical colleagues to maintain service excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising or line managing staff in a busy environment.
• Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to handle competing demands under pressure.
• Flexible, solution‑focused approach to challenges.
• Proficient IT skills including Office 365 tools.
• Previous NHS experience would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide day‑to‑day line management and operational support to admin teams.
• Coordinate workloads, rotas and service cover to maintain high standards.
• Support recruitment, induction, training, supervision and staff development.
• Manage annual leave, sickness absence and workforce planning.
• Support service redesign and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with senior managers, clinicians and multidisciplinary teams.
• Resolve issues and manage competing priorities under pressures.
• Contribute to a modern, patient‑focused administration service.
