Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Kidsgrove, part of Cygnet Group, is seeking an Activity Coordinator to support patient care at a 40-hour week, Monday to Friday, at the Kidsgrove site in Staffordshire.

The role involves assisting the Occupational Therapist by encouraging patient participation in activities, planning therapy programmes, and helping to run safe events within an interdisciplinary team. DBS check is required.

Qualifications

• Experience and/or a passion for working in healthcare and with learning disabilities.
• Some knowledge of Occupational Therapy.
• A creative flair and the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• An awareness of recovery approaches and social inclusion (desirable).

Responsibilities

• Encouraging patients to access and become involved in activities and maintain hobbies.
• Plan and implement therapy programmes with appropriate materials.
• Contribute ideas, facilitate events and activities safely.

We are looking for a motivated Activity Coordinator at Cygnet Hospital Kidsgrove. You will be working full time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week. Cygnet Hospital Kidsgrove is our hospital for women in Staffordshire.

There are two wards at the hospital; a 20 bed Acute service for women and an 11 bed Highly Specialised Personality Disorder Rehabilitation service. Crocus Ward provides a safe and stabilising environment for women who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission. Burleigh Ward provides specialised support for women with a personality disorder and other complex needs.

Your Day-to-Day…

We are seeking an academically strong candidate to support and enhance the care of patients at the service by assisting the Occupational Therapist with;

• Encouraging patients to access and become involved in a variety of activities as well maintaining any pre-existing hobbies.


• Planning and implementing therapy programmes whilst ensuring appropriate materials are obtained


• Contributing ideas, facilitating events and activities in a safe manner
