Job summary

Cygnet Wallace Hospital in Dundee is seeking an Activity Coordinator to support a weekly pattern of 20 hours. The role involves assisting an Occupational Therapist, delivering therapeutic activities, and promoting patient engagement across a seven-day week.

A flexible shift pattern is provided to ensure meaningful activity for patients. The ideal candidate will have healthcare experience, knowledge of OT, and the ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Experience and/or passion for working in healthcare and with learning disabilities.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Therapy.
  • Creative flair and ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Awareness of recovery approaches and social inclusion (desirable)

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Occupational Therapist with planning and implementing therapy programmes.
  • Encourage patients to access and become involved in a variety of activities.
  • Maintain pre-existing hobbies and facilitate engagement.
  • Contribute ideas and facilitate events and activities in a safe manner.

We are looking for a Activity Coordinator to join our team at Cygnet Wallace Hospital.

This role will be working an average of 20 hours per week, contracted to 80 hours per month.

The role will work on a flexible shift pattern across seven days of the week, based on the needs of the service. The typical working pattern will consist of:

  • 2 x 8-hour shifts one week
  • 3 x 8-hour shifts the following week

This provides flexibility to ensure therapeutic activities and meaningful engagement are available to patients throughout the week, including weekends.

Cygnet Wallace Hospital is an 18-bed specialist service in Dundee, providing care and support for adults with learning disabilities and complex needs.

The Therapy Coordinator will be an important part of our multidisciplinary team, supporting a varied programme of therapeutic, social and community-based activities and helping ensure that meaningful activity is embedded throughout the week.

Your Day-to-Day

We are seeking an academically strong candidate to support and enhance the care of patients at the service by assisting the Occupational Therapist with;

Encouraging patients to access and become involved in a variety of activities as well maintaining any pre-existing hobbies.

Planning and implementing therapy programmes whilst ensuring appropriate materials are obtained.

Contributing ideas, facilitating events and activities in a safe manner.
