Job summary

Macklin Care Homes is seeking an Activities Therapist to join The Lady's Care Home in Belfast, 22 hours per week. You will design engaging activity programs, coordinate with nursing staff, and ensure activities meet residents’ needs and rights.

Applicants should have relevant vocational qualifications, dementia care experience, and excellent English. A driving licence and flexibility with shifts are beneficial for resident transport and coverage.

Qualifications

• Relevant vocational qualifications (achieved or working towards).
• Experience working with elderly residents suffering from dementia.
• Knowledge of the Care of the Elderly Patients Charter of Rights.
• Must have a good command of written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement a schedule of in-house entertainment, outings, and group activities for residents.
• Work with Nurse Managers, staff, and residents to align activities with needs and interests.
• Obtain approval from Nurse Managers before engaging external entertainers or service providers.
• Gather feedback from residents and tailor activities to hobbies and interests.
• Maintain accurate records of all activities and events (manual and electronic).
• Provide individual engagement activities for residents who prefer not to join group activities.
• Collaborate respectfully with a diverse resident group and maintain a safe, inclusive environment.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues, residents, and visitors, both independently and as part of a team.
• Assist with resident transportation if required, holding a full UK driving licence.
