Job summary

Milesian Manor in Magherafelt is recruiting an Activities / Lifestyle Coordinator to plan and deliver a varied programme of activities that promote social interaction, independence, wellbeing and quality of life for residents.

You will work 37.5 hours per week, coordinating with care teams to tailor activities to individual needs and abilities while engaging families in events and activities.

  • Plan and deliver a varied programme of activities reflecting residents' needs and interests.

  • Organise external entertainers, performers, and community groups.
  • Monitor attendance and engagement to identify popular activities.
  • Collaborate with Care Assistants, Nurses and Home Managers to support wellbeing.

Activities / Lifestyle Coordinator

Milesian Manor, based in Magherafelt, is currently recruiting an Activities / Lifestyle Coordinator. This is a vital role within the Home, where you will play an important role in creating a warm, stimulating and engaging environment for our residents.

You will be responsible for planning and delivering a varied programme of activities that promotes social interaction, independence, wellbeing and quality of life, while ensuring that activities are meaningful and tailored to the individual interests, abilities and preferences of each resident.

The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week.

Ideal candidate:
  • Plan and deliver a varied programme of meaningful activities that reflects the needs and interests of residents.
  • Experience and a passion for Arts and Drama-related activities.
  • Develop and maintain a varied and engaging weekly/monthly activities programme.
  • Adapt activities to accommodate different physical abilities, cognitive abilities, communication needs and levels of independence.
  • Organise external entertainers, performers, community groups and visitors where appropriate.
  • Monitor attendance and engagement to help identify which activities residents enjoy most.
  • Continually review and develop the activities programme based on resident feedback and changing needs.
  • Work closely with Care Assistants, Nurses, and the Home Managers to ensure activities support residents' overall care and wellbeing.
  • Build positive relationships with residents' families and encourage family involvement in activities and events.

Desired Criteria
  • Knowledge of Care of the Elderly Patients Charter of Rights.
  • Previous experience working in a nursing home, care home, hospital, community or similar environment.
  • Experience working with people living with dementia.
  • Qualification or training in Health & Social Care, Activities, Dementia Care, Occupational Therapy, Social Care or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of Care of the Elderly Patients Charter of Rights.
