Job summary

South Cambridgeshire District Council is recruiting Refuse Loaders for a temporary-to-permanent role. You will join a refuse collection crew, handling household waste and recycling across the local area. The job is physically demanding, with regular lifting of heavy bins and outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Hours are 6:00am–3:45pm, Tuesday to Friday, with pay for the full day. After 12 weeks, the hourly rate increases from £13.77 to £15.00.

Qualifications

• Physically able to perform manual tasks and heavy lifting.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Load and empty household waste and recycling bins.
• Work as part of a crew to complete daily collection routes.
• Walk long distances and move heavy bins safely.
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times.
• Start times 6:00am, finish 3:45pm, Tue-Fri, with full day pay.
