Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Chard is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term 9-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels by van and on foot, with a rotating schedule across 37 hours per week, including some weekends and Sundays as required.

You’ll work on a rotating shift, maintain route consistency, and complete deliveries while serving the local community. Training provided; physically active outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated with strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.
• Customer-focused with pride in delivering great service.
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently.

Responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office.
• Deliver post by van and on foot in the local area.
• Build relationships with customers.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Deliver high volumes of parcels, especially during peak periods.
