Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Middlesbrough to deliver letters and parcels as part of a 30-hour weekly, fixed-term contract. Shifts run 09:00–15:00/14:00–20:00, with some Sundays and a rotating schedule; overtime is paid. The role includes training, a uniform, and a red van.

You will be outdoors, navigating routes, and building relationships with customers while maintaining high service standards.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated.
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment.
• Customer-focused with pride in delivering great service.
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently.

Responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office.
• Deliver post by van and on foot in your local area.
• Build relationships with customers.
• Work outdoors in all weathers.
