Role: Software Controls Engineer - Oil & Gas Sector

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hrs per week, flexible hours

About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Software Controls Engineer to work in our Oil & Gas Storage & Distribution Sector.

Reporting to the Sector Project Manager, the role involves supporting and delivering automation projects for the company’s key accounts.

The role includes developing PLC, HMI, and SCADA software on projects in a fast-paced and evolving industry sector. It also involves customer-facing duties and site work.

Main Responsibilities:

• Produce and modify PLC, HMI, and SCADA software according to customer standards.
• Advise customers on automation solutions and control system architectures.
• Carry out site surveys and assist with project quotations (engineering time and materials).

The Person:

• Good knowledge of PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems from OEMs such as Rockwell, Schneider, Mitsubishi, Aveva Wonderware, and Beijer.
• Experience with setting up, commissioning, and fault-finding industrial networks.
• Ability to read and understand electrical schematic diagrams from industrial environments.
• Awareness of standards in the water sector.
