Job summary

Trial Balance Consulting Ltd. in Barnstaple is recruiting an Accounts Supervisor to join its established accountancy practice. You will manage a varied client portfolio and act as the day-to-day point of contact for all accounting needs.

You will review junior staff work, mentor colleagues, and help prepare accounts for complex clients, with Partner sign-off. A client-focused approach and strong communication are essential to contribute to a supportive, growing team.

Qualifications

• Experience in an accountancy environment and managing client relationships.
• ACA or ACCA qualifications advantageous, or demonstrable strong technical knowledge.
• Able to review accounts and support junior team members; strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage a varied portfolio of clients and be the main contact for day-to-day accounting.
• Build strong client relationships and respond proactively to queries.

The role of Accounts Supervisor will include:

• Managing a varied portfolio of clients and acting as a key point of contact for their day-to-day accounting requirements
• Building strong client relationships and responding to queries in a professional and proactive manner
• Reviewing accounts preparation work completed by junior team members and providing guidance and support where required
• Preparing accounts for more complex clients and reviewing work prior to Partner sign-off
• Assisting with the preparation of information for client meetings and reviews
• Mentoring and developing junior colleagues, providing technical assistance and constructive feedback
• Working closely with senior leadership to maintain high service standards and support the continued growth of the practice

About you

The successful Accounts Supervisor will have previous experience within an accountancy environment and be confident managing client relationships and overseeing a varied portfolio of work.

Whilst ACA or ACCA qualifications would be advantageous, applications are equally welcomed from experienced candidates who can demonstrate strong technical knowledge and a client-focused approach.

As an Accounts Supervisor, you'll be approachable, organised and comfortable working closely with both clients and colleagues. Experience reviewing accounts and supporting junior team members will be highly beneficial, alongside strong communication skills and a genuine desire to contribute to a positive team culture.
