Job summary

AWD online is seeking an Accounts Senior to take ownership of varied client accountancy and corporation tax work within a collaborative practice. You will prepare financial statements, manage workflows and mentor junior colleagues, ensuring timely delivery and accurate records.

Based from an office near your home, you will work with clients, bookkeepers and internal specialists to identify tax planning opportunities and resolve queries while upholding professional standards and GDPR compliance.

Qualifications

• AAT, ACA or ACCA qualified; an accounts-related degree; or qualified by experience.
• Experience in accountancy practice in a relevant sector.
• Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Strong analytical ability with a methodical approach and problem-solving skills.
• Flexible team player who can also operate effectively independently.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work accurately with consistent care and attention to detail.
• Strong organisation and time management skills with the ability to manage deadlines.
• Ability to demonstrate ambition, professionalism, knowledge, integrity and respect.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and complete financial statements for a range of business enterprises, including corporation tax computations.
• Plan, manage and prioritise workload, budgets and productivity to meet targets and deadlines.
• Aim for recovery of at least 95% and keep non-chargeable time to no more than 5% unless otherwise agreed.
• Work efficiently to minimise post-review adjustments and clear client queries proactively ahead of meetings.
• Work with cross-team tax, payroll, VAT and tax specialists, financial services and other teams to identify planning opportunities and key points for Relationship Manager.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and help ensure year-end cut-off is measured accurately.
• Use business systems including APS, Virtual Cabinet, Xero, Digita, QuickBooks and Sage while protecting client data and following GDPR requirements.
• Complete work within a four-week turnaround period where appropriate, maintain accurate workflow records and communicate to a high professional standard.
• Assist with training and mentoring junior colleagues, review VAT returns and support the sign-off of account approaches and budgets.
• Support specialist projects and contribute to departmental improvement and development.
