Chelmsford Independent Practice is seeking an Accounts Semi-Senior to support a varied SME and larger corporate portfolio. You will handle compliance and accounting tasks, building trusted client relationships in a friendly, supportive firm.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice as Semi-Senior or Trainee Accountant
• AAT Level 4 qualification or part qualification (ACCA/ACA) preferred
• Experience with SME client portfolios

Responsibilities

• Prepare year-end statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and companies (FRS 102)
• Draft corporation tax computations and CT600s
• Assist with monthly/quarterly management accounts
• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns
• Bookkeeping using cloud software (XERO, Quickbooks, Sage)
• Liaise with clients and build professional relationships
• Act as key contact for client engagements

An established and reputable independent accountancy practice based on the outskirts of Chelmsford is looking to recruit an Accounts Semi-Senior to support the firm’s continued growth.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a varied and interesting portfolio of both SME and larger corporate businesses.

The Role

Working as part of a supportive team, you will take responsibility for assisting with, and in some cases managing, a portfolio of clients, delivering a broad range of compliance and accounting services.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparation of year-end statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies (FRS 102 Section 1A)
• Drafting corporation tax computations and CT600s for review and submission
• Supporting with monthly and quarterly management accounts
• Completion and submission of quarterly VAT returns
• Supporting bookkeeping requirements using cloud-based accounting software such as XERO, Quickbooks and Sage
• Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and support their ongoing business needs
• Building trusted, professional relationships and acting as a key point of contact

About You

• Ideally you will have 3+ years’ experience working within a UK accountancy practice as either a Semi-Senior or Trainee Accountant
• Be AAT Level 4 qualified, or part-qualified (ACCA/ACA)
• Have experience working with a varied SME client portfolio
• Be confident communicating directly with clients
• Be well organised, detail-oriented, and keen to progress your career within practice
