Job summary

Ian Williams Ltd is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor to lead an established AP team in a financially strong business. You will drive accuracy, compliance and service excellence while fostering development and an engaged team culture.

The role emphasises supervising high-volume invoice processing, month-end activities and continuous improvement within a hybrid working environment. Collaboration with stakeholders is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading or supervising an Accounts Payable team.
• Solid understanding of Accounts Payable, Purchase Ledger controls and related processes.
• Passion for developing people and driving continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop an established Accounts Payable team.

• Ensure consistency, accuracy and compliance across Purchase Ledger and Subcontract Ledger activities.
• Manage workloads, priorities and performance to ensure excellent service delivery.
• Support timely processing of high-volume invoices and month-end activities.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers and colleagues to meet deadlines.
• Oversee CIS compliance and monthly HMRC submissions.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen controls.
• Coach team members to support their development and long-term success.

The Accounts Payable Supervisor Role

• Leading, motivating and developing an established Accounts Payable team.
• Creating a positive, engaged and motivating team culture.
• Ensuring consistency, accuracy and compliance across Purchase Ledger and Subcontract Ledger activities.

• Supporting the timely processing of high-volume invoices and month-end activities.
• Building positive relationships with suppliers and colleagues across the business, to achieve required timeframes.
• Overseeing CIS compliance and monthly HMRC submissions.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls and increase efficiency.
• Coaching team members to support their development and long-term success.

What You Will Bring

• Proven experience leading or supervising an Accounts Payable team.
• A solid understanding of Accounts Payable, Purchase Ledger controls and associated financial processes.
• A genuine passion for developing and motivating people, and driving continuous improvement.
• The ability to bring consistency, structure and accountability to team operations.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to stakeholder management.
• Experience of ERP systems and strong Excel skills.
• Knowledge of CIS would be advantageous but is not essential.
