Job summary

Ian Williams Ltd is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor to lead an established AP team in a financially strong, people-focused business. You will drive accuracy, consistency and service excellence while fostering an environment where the team can perform at their best and make a real impact.

You will supervise high-volume AP operations, mentor staff, ensure CIS compliance and collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to meet deadlines and improve controls.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading Accounts Payable teams.
• Solid understanding of Accounts Payable and Purchase Ledger controls.
• Commitment to developing people and driving continuous improvement.
• Ability to introduce structure, consistency and accountability in team operations.
• Strong communication skills and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Leading, motivating and developing an established Accounts Payable team.
• Creating a positive, engaged team culture and ensuring service excellence.
• Ensuring accuracy and compliance across Purchase Ledger and Subcontract Ledger activities.
• Managing workloads, priorities and performance for timely processing of invoices and month-end close.
• Building relationships with suppliers and colleagues to meet timeframes and CIS obligations.
• Coaching team members to support their development and long-term success.

The Accounts Payable Supervisor Role

• Leading, motivating and developing an established Accounts Payable team.
• Creating a positive, engaged and motivating team culture.
• Ensuring consistency, accuracy and compliance across Purchase Ledger and Subcontract Ledger activities.
• Managing workloads, priorities and performance to ensure excellent service delivery, and set expectations.
• Supporting the timely processing of high-volume invoices and month-end activities.
• Building positive relationships with suppliers and colleagues across the business, to achieve required timeframes.
• Overseeing CIS compliance and monthly HMRC submissions.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls and increase efficiency.
• Coaching team members to support their development and long-term success.

What You Will Bring

• Proven experience leading or supervising an Accounts Payable team.
• A solid understanding of Accounts Payable, Purchase Ledger controls and associated financial processes.
• A genuine passion for developing and motivating people, and driving continuous improvement.
• The ability to bring consistency, structure and accountability to team operations.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to stakeholder management.
• Experience of ERP systems and strong Excel skills.
• Knowledge of CIS would be advantageous but is not essential.
