Job summary

SF Partners in Sutton Coldfield is seeking an organised Accounts Payable Assistant to join a busy finance team. This temporary-to-permanent role is office-based, Monday to Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm, with responsibilities spanning supplier invoice processing, payments, reconciliations and data migration into SAP S/4HANA.

The ideal candidate will have prior AP experience, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach to resolving discrepancies.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in an Accounts Payable or similar finance role.
• Good understanding of supplier invoice processing, payments and reconciliations.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Good communication skills when dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• A proactive approach to resolving discrepancies and outstanding queries.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Process supplier invoices accurately and within agreed deadlines, ensuring correct coding and authorisation.
• Manage supplier payments in line with agreed payment terms and internal procedures.
• Complete supplier account reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Proactively follow up on aged reconciling items to ensure timely resolution.
• Liaise with suppliers, store administration teams and internal departments to resolve queries and discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate supplier records and ensure transactions are processed in accordance with company procedures.
• Support system changes and implementation activities relating to SAP S/4HANA.
• Assist with integration testing, UAT and data migration activities.
• Support the Accounts Payable Manager with the migration of supplier accounts and data into SAP.
• Validate supplier information and investigate discrepancies identified during migration.
• Assist with identifying and resolving system issues during testing and implementation.
• Assist the Accounts Payable team with month-end close activities.
• Support supplier balance reconciliations and the resolution of outstanding items.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors, providing supporting documentation when required.
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure a clear audit trail.
• Undertake general administrative duties, including filing, photocopying and maintaining financial records.
• Provide administrative support to the wider finance team as required.
