Job summary

RG Consultancy is recruiting an Accounts Assistant to join a reputable Pontefract-based business. You will support the UK accounts function, primarily in accounts payable, with exposure to broader finance tasks as you develop.

You’ll work with the Finance Manager, with study support toward AAT qualifications and potential hybrid working after probation. Training and guidance will help broaden your accounting knowledge and career progression.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounts payable or an Accounts Assistant role.
• Good IT skills and confidence using accounting systems.
• Experience with Sage would be beneficial, alongside knowledge of other accounting packages.
• Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Processing and coding supplier invoices.
• Matching invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes.
• Reconciling supplier statements and resolving invoice queries.
• Preparing and processing weekly payment runs.
• Processing BACS payments and ensuring suppliers are paid within agreed terms.
• Completing regular bank reconciliations.
• Maintaining accurate purchase ledger records.
• Monitoring outstanding invoices and assisting with accounts payable queries.
• Posting financial transactions and maintaining accurate accounting records.
• Assisting with sales ledger duties and allocating customer receipts where required.
• Supporting month-end procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations as experience develops.
• Assisting the Finance Manager with general accounting duties and other ad hoc tasks.
