Job summary

RG Consultancy is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join a reputable medium-sized business based in Pontefract. The role focuses on accounts payable while offering exposure to broader finance tasks and study support toward AAT qualifications.

You will work closely with the Finance Manager, gain hands-on experience, and have the chance to develop your accounting skills within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounts payable or as an Accounts Assistant.
• Strong IT skills and confidence using accounting systems.
• Experience with Sage and other accounting packages is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Process and code supplier invoices.
• Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes.
• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve invoice queries.
• Prepare and process weekly payment runs.
• Process BACS payments and ensure suppliers are paid on time.
• Complete regular bank reconciliations.
• Maintain accurate purchase ledger records.
• Monitor outstanding invoices and assist with AP queries.
• Post financial transactions and maintain records.
• Assist with sales ledger duties and allocate customer receipts when required.
• Support month-end procedures including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Assist Finance Manager with general accounting duties and ad hoc tasks.
