Life Services Group is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist in Sutton Coldfield. The role sits hybrid with a 3-month fixed-term contract and a £28,000 annual salary. You will handle high volumes of supplier invoices, code them accurately, manage approvals, and support month-end processes within a busy finance team.
You’ll work with SAP/Oracle/NetSuite and Excel, handle VAT, and participate in the Coupa rollout to optimise P2P processes. AAT-qualified or equivalent is preferred.
Location:Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham (Hybrid flexible working)
Job Type:Full-Time, Fixed-Term Contract (3-months)
Salary: £28,000 per annum
Every funeral we arrange relies on hundreds of things going right behind the scenes. Flowers arrive. Venues are booked. Suppliers are paid on time, so they can keep showing up for the families who need them. That last part is where you come in.
At Dignity, we look after people at one of the hardest moments of their lives: when someone they love has died. We don’t shy away from that, and we’re proud of the care our teams give every day. But that care only works when the business behind it runs smoothly. Our finance team is a big part of making that happen, and we’re looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join it.
You’ll own a busy slice of our purchase-to-pay cycle, processing high volumes of supplier invoices accurately, coding them correctly and making sure they’ve gone through the right approvals. You’ll keep our AP inbox under control and get queries to the right place quickly, whether that’s an invoice dispute, a missing PO or a payment that doesn’t quite add up.
You’ll prepare and support payment runs across BACS, CHAPS and international wires, reconcile supplier statements, and track down debit balances until they’re understood and cleared. Come month end, you’ll help with accruals, reconciliations and reporting so the wider finance team has numbers it can trust.
And this isn’t a “keep the lights on” job. We’re in the middle of a real finance transformation, including our rollout and optimisation of Coupa. You’ll help embed it across the business, test new processes, spot manual work that shouldn’t be manual any more, and shape how we do things going forward. If you’ve ever looked at a process and thought “there’s a better way,” we want to hear it.
You’ll have experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role, including processing invoices, handling supplier queries and working within financial controls and tight deadlines. You’re comfortable on ERP or finance systems like SAP, Oracle or NetSuite, handy with Excel, and you know your way around VAT on invoices and expenses.
It’s a bonus if you’ve used Coupa or another P2P platform, worked in a high-volume or shared services environment, or been part of a process improvement project. You’ll be AAT qualified, studying towards an accounting qualification, or qualified by experience. We care about what you can do, not just the letters after your name.
take real pride in getting things right, stay calm when the volume ramps up, and like solving problems rather than passing them on. You’ll be confident working with people across finance, procurement and the wider business, and you’ll enjoy being part of change rather than just watching it happen.
We believe in rewarding our colleagues with a strong, supportive benefits package that helps you feel secure, valued and able to grow.
Life Services Group exists to help every family in Britain navigate the hardest moments of life. We bring together trusted names across funeral services, crematoria and cemeteries, legal services, direct cremation and wills, including Dignity Funeral Directors, CMG, Simplicity Cremations, Dignity Legal Services and Farewill, so families can get more of the support they need in one place.
Our ambition is to support one in three families across the UK as they plan for, navigate and deal with death. We want to set a new standard for care, service and simplicity across the sector.
Death is part of life, and being there for families when it matters is what we do. That means making difficult moments feel more supported, more straightforward and more human.
We are building a modern group that supports families at every stage, from planning ahead with wills and funeral plans, to arranging a funeral, cremation or burial, and managing probate afterwards. This is a defining moment for our business. With stronger foundations, clearer strategy and real momentum, we can change end-of-life care for the better. We are modernising how we work, investing in our colleagues and technology, and helping more families than any one brand could alone.
Wherever you work in Life Services Group, in one of our local teams, specialist brands or group functions, you’ll be part of work with meaningful purpose. You will help families through some of life’s hardest and most important moments.
Across all our brands, we want colleagues to grow with us through better training, stronger support, modern tools and clearer opportunities to build skills and confidence. You’ll be part of teams who care deeply about what they do, look out for each other and take pride in doing work that matters.
You will also help shape the future of end-of-life care. That means making support simpler, more connected and more human for families, while each brand keeps the identity, expertise and community connection people already know and trust.
If you want a career with meaningful purpose, room to grow with us and the chance to shape the future, find your Life’s work.
