Job summary

SBFM Ltd in Leeds seeks an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to own and run the end-to-end AP function. This hands-on role requires taking ownership, working independently, and ensuring processes are accurate and efficient from start to finish.

You will manage a high-volume AP process, maintain supplier relationships, work with internal stakeholders, and drive improvements to controls and automation as the business grows.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in an Accounts Payable Manager or senior AP role.
• Experience managing high-volume invoice processing.
• Strong experience with purchase order workflows and payment runs.
• Excellent attention to detail and highly organised.
• Ability to manage a busy, deadline-driven workload independently.
• Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central would be desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage the processing of circa 800 supplier invoices per month with accuracy and timely posting.
• Own and manage purchase order workflows, ensuring POs are raised, approved and reconciled.
• Resolve PO/invoice discrepancies with budget holders to improve compliance.
• Serve as main AP contact for internal and external stakeholders.
• Investigate invoice discrepancies, payment delays and supplier queries.
• Maintain supplier records and AP ledger data; perform regular reconciliations.
• Support month-end close activities including accruals and reconciliations.
• Identify opportunities to improve AP processes, controls, efficiency and automation.
