Job summary

RG Consultancy Ltd in Pontefract is recruiting an Accounts Assistant to support the UK accounts function, primarily handling accounts payable and daily finance tasks. You will work closely with the Finance Manager and have opportunities to broaden your accounting knowledge through training and study support for AAT qualifications.

The role offers hybrid working after an initial establishment period, with training and guidance to develop your skills within the finance team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in accounts payable or an Accounts Assistant role.
• Good IT skills and confidence using accounting systems.
• Experience with Sage would be beneficial, alongside knowledge of other accounting packages.

Responsibilities

• Processing and coding supplier invoices.
• Matching invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes.
• Reconciling supplier statements and resolving invoice queries.
• Preparing and processing weekly payment runs.
• Processing BACS payments and ensuring suppliers are paid within agreed terms.
• Completing regular bank reconciliations.
• Maintaining accurate purchase ledger records.
• Monitoring outstanding invoices and assisting with accounts payable queries.
• Posting financial transactions and maintaining accurate accounting records.
• Assisting with sales ledger duties and allocating customer receipts where required.
• Supporting month-end procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations as your experience develops.
• Assisting the Finance Manager with general accounting duties and other ad hoc tasks.
