Job summary

Confidential in Darlington is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Associate to join a busy finance team on a 13-month maternity cover contract with an immediate start available. The role offers hybrid working after an initial training period and a full-time 37.5 hour week.

You will process high volumes of supplier invoices, manage payments (BACS and wires), and support month-end close activities with opportunities for permanent roles thereafter.

Qualifications

• Proven Accounts Payable experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong Excel skills: Pivot Tables and lookups (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP).
• Data analysis and reconciliations experience.
• Experience with AP reconciliations and balance sheet accounts.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Process high volumes of supplier invoices accurately.
• Prepare and process payments including BACS and wire transfers.
• Resolve supplier queries and invoice discrepancies.
• Reconcile supplier statements and AP balance sheet accounts.
• Analyse AP data and investigate outstanding GRNI balances.
• Support month-end close activities, journals, and reporting.
• Identify process improvements and support AP projects.
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers.

We're recruiting for an experienced Accounts Payable Associate to join a busy finance team on a 13-month maternity cover contract, with an immediate start available.

Key Responsibilities for the Accounts Payable role

• Process high volumes of supplier invoices accurately and efficiently
• Prepare and process payments, including BACS and wire transfers
• Resolve supplier queries and invoice discrepancies
• Reconcile supplier statements and AP balance sheet accounts
• Analyse AP data and investigate outstanding GRNI balances
• Support month-end close activities, journals, and reporting
• Identify process improvements and support AP projects
• Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and suppliers

What We're Looking For

• Proven Accounts Payable experience within a fast-paced environment
• Strong Excel skills, including:
• Pivot Tables
• VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs
• Data analysis and reconciliations
• Experience with AP reconciliations and balance sheet accounts
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• AAT Level 3 qualified or studying (desirable, not essential)
• Dealing with European Accounts majority being with Poland. Polish Language skills would be highly beneficial but not essential
• Good communication skills are essential
