Job summary

bk plus in Penzance is seeking an Accounts & Audit Semi Senior to support managers and partners in delivering accounting, audit, taxation and business advisory services to a varied client base. This is an excellent opportunity for someone studying towards or having completed ACA, ACCA or AAT, seeking to develop technical expertise and client-facing skills.

You will work with sole traders, partnerships, limited companies and not-for-profit organisations, gaining exposure across varied sectors in

Qualifications

• Experience in an accountancy practice environment.
• Proficient in accounts preparation and bookkeeping.
• Familiarity with cloud accounting software (Xero/Sage/QuickBooks).
• Understanding of VAT compliance and Making Tax Digital requirements.
• Knowledge of audit procedures and assurance engagements.
• Strong IT skills, especially Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Strong organisational and client-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and companies.
• Assist in planning, fieldwork and completion of audits.
• Prepare VAT returns using MTDto software and bookkeeping tasks.
• Prepare self‑assessment tax returns and tax computations.
• Assist with company secretarial tasks and compliance obligations.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships and meet deadlines.
