Job summary

Impression Recruitment Ltd. in Thirsk is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join a busy finance function. You’ll rotate across purchase and sales ledgers, payments, reconciliations, VAT, payroll and cash flow to gain breadth of experience.

You’ll be hands-on, own day-to-day tasks, work with the wider team and help keep finances accurate. The role requires prior accounts experience, strong numeracy and Excel skills, and good attention to detail. Salary £26,000–£30,000 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience in an accounts or finance environment.
• Comfortable working with financial information and large data volumes.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Able to investigate queries and resolve discrepancies.
• Able to manage workload and meet deadlines.
• Good Excel and general IT skills.
• Able to communicate confidently with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
• Keen to broaden experience across different areas of finance.

Responsibilities

• Processing invoices and keeping purchase and sales ledgers accurate.
• Managing supplier and customer queries and resolving discrepancies.
• Preparing and processing regular payment runs.
• Completing bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Supporting VAT returns preparation and submission.
• Processing payroll for seasonal employees.
• Monitoring cash flow information and preparing weekly forecasts.
• Supporting the wider finance team with additional accounting tasks as required.
