Job summary

Solid Solutions, the UK & Ireland's SOLIDWORKS leader, offers an apprenticeship in accounting with hands-on experience in sales and purchase ledgers, reconciliations and finance administration. You will study toward a Level 2 Finance Assistant Apprenticeship and be mentored by experienced staff.

The role is 30 hours per week over 4 days with hybrid work (up to 2 days remote) after training, starting 1 September 2026, for 1 year. Opportunity to progress within finance roles upon completion.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths at grade 4 or above.
  • Strong communication and numerical skills.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a finance team.
  • Interest in finance/accounts and developing practical accounting skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the shared finance inbox and prioritise tasks.
  • Raise customer sales invoices and process supplier invoices.
  • Complete simple bank and statement reconciliations.
  • Maintain finance records and support data-cleaning projects.
  • Assist with general admin and study for Level 2 AAT certificate.

Summary

Join a supportive finance team where you will gain practical experience, receive structured training and work towards a recognised qualification. Wage

£12,480 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You'll learn on the job by getting hands‑on experience.

What you'll do at work

You will be mentored by an experienced Assistant Management Accountant and managed by the UK Financial Controller. The role provides hands‑on experience across sales ledger, purchase ledger, reconciliations and finance administration whilst studying towards a recognised Level 2 Finance Assistant Apprenticeship.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Managing and prioritising the shared finance inbox
  • Raising customer sales invoices
  • Processing supplier invoices
  • Completing simple bank and statement reconciliations
  • Maintaining finance records and supporting data‑cleansing projects
  • Providing general administrative support to the finance team
  • Complete the off‑the‑job training and coursework required to progress through the AAT Level 2 certificate in accounting apprenticeship

Any other duties as may be reasonably required and appropriate to an apprentice role.

What you’ll learn

  • Record transactional data.
  • Use the organisation's standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues, such as reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
  • Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
  • Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience, and different media methods, with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

  • Level 2 AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)

Requirements

Essential qualifications

GCSE in:

  • English (grade 4 or above)
  • Math (grade 4 or above)
