Job summary

AM System is seeking an Accounts Apprentice to join the finance team in Hinckley from September 2026. This role is ideal for a school or college leaver aiming to build a long-term career in accounting, with hands-on experience in purchase ledgers and financial workflows.

The apprenticeship runs for 1 year, with 36 hours 15 minutes per week, starting 1 September 2026. You’ll study Accounts or Finance Assistant (level 2) through Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber Training Limited, gaining practical

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths with grade A*/9 to C/5.
  • Willingness to learn and commit to a 1-year apprenticeship.
  • Interest in accountancy and finance teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Support the finance team in the purchase ledger, processing supplier invoices.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Input transactions into accounting systems and support month-end reporting.
  • Assist in audits and financial inspections as needed.

Summary

AM System is a well-established design, manufacturing and installation specialist based in Hinckley. They are looking for an enthusiastic Accounts Apprentice to join our team in September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a school or college leaver who is interested in building a long-term career in accountancy.

Wage

£15,080 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age

National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices
  • Salary review following completion of probation (6-months) - should performance and exam results meet the company's expectations then a salary increase of up to £1 per hour may be awarded.
  • Salary reviews conducted thereafter on 1st January annually.

Training course Accounts or finance assistant (level 2)

Hours

Monday-Thursday from 8:45am to 5pm with 45-mins lunch. Friday from 8:45am to 3:30pm with 30-mins lunch. 36 hours 15 minutes a week

Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You'll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

The main purpose of this role is to support the finance team specifically within the purchase ledger function, ensuring accurate processing of supplier invoices, reconciliations, and reporting. The apprenticeship will offer opportunities to develop skills in other areas within the accounts department, such as credit control, management reporting, expenses and payment processing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchase Ledger processing:
  • Process purchase invoices and expense claims.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier account records.
  • Input transactions into accounting systems.
  • Support month-end closing activities and reporting.
  • Support the accounts team with filing, record maintenance, and general office duties.
  • Ensure transactions comply with company policies.
  • Assist in audits and financial inspections as needed.

  • Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience, and different media methods, with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
  • Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
  • Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.

Training schedule
  • Accounts or finance Assistant (level 2) Apprenticeship Standard
  • AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.
  • You will attend training provided by Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber Training once a week, Commerce House, 123 St Nicholas Street, Radford, CV1 4FD.

GCSE in:

English & Maths (grade A*/9 - C/5)
