Qualifications

• Hands-on accounts professional with practice experience.
• Experience preparing statutory accounts for small/owner-managed businesses.
• Strong understanding of Companies House and HMRC compliance.
• AAT qualified (or studying) preferred, but relevant experience also valued.
• Excellent attention to detail and organisation.

Responsibilities

• Preparing year-end accounts for a range of small business clients (owner-managed).
• Ensuring accounts and submissions are completed accurately and on time for Companies House and HMRC.
• Preparing or assisting with corporation tax computations/returns.
• Producing bookkeeping, reconciliations, and reviewing client records to identify issues.
• Liaising with clients to gather missing information and resolve queries.

The role

You’ll support a portfolio of small business clients, taking responsibility for the preparation of accounts and related compliance work, while providing a professional and responsive service throughout the year.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparingyear-end accountsfor a range of small business clients (primarily owner-managed businesses)
• Ensuring accounts and submissions are completed accurately and on time forCompanies HouseandHMRC
• Preparing or assisting withcorporation tax computations/returns(depending on experience)
• Producingbookkeeping, reconciliations, and reviewing clientrecords to identify issues and improve accuracy
• Liaisingwithclientstogathermissing informationandresolvequeries efficiently
• Supportingcolleagues across the SmallBusiness Team during peak periods

About you

We’re looking for a hands‑on accounts professionalwith practiceexperience who is comfortable working to deadlines and communicating confidently with clients.

You’ll ideally have:

• Previous experience in anaccountancy practice(essential)
• Experience preparingstatutory accountsfor small companies/owner-managed businesses
• Strong understanding of compliance requirements forCompanies HouseandHMRC
• AAT qualified (or studying) would be preferred, but relevant experience is equally important
• Strong attention to detail, good organisation, and a collaborative approach
