Accountant - Finance Operations and Group Finance
We are looking to recruit a number of high-calibre Accountants to join our Finance Operations and BBC Group Finance teams based in Cardiff with some flexibility, i.e., hybrid working.
Both teams are central to BBC Finance, delivering an integrated, sustainable, and high-quality process accounting and reporting service to our business and finance customers across the BBC Group.
We are recruiting across various teams and will align the best skills to the most suitable areas.
Main Responsibilities
- Contribute to reporting processes to ensure the financial position and performance of different sections of the BBC Group are understood and key issues are rectified, ensuring appropriate process control over sub-ledgers and integration with the general ledger.
- Manage the accurate recording of transactions in the ERP general ledger, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal controls, and improve the efficiency and controls of financial processes where possible.
- Support the efficient delivery of internal and external audits, including preparation of annual reports and other external reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with key partners and stakeholders, including outsourced partners, other finance teams, and divisional and group stakeholders.
- Document and implement accounting judgments in accordance with BBC policy and standards.
- Compile and review balance sheet reconciliations supported by appropriate testing, ensuring full compliance with internal controls and minimum requirements, with fully evidenced and substantiated balances.
- Provide professional financial support to stakeholders, maintaining effective control of financial processes and delivering operational excellence.
Candidate Requirements
- Hold a professional accounting qualification e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- Have significant experience delivering high-quality accounting services.
- Possess highly developed communication skills with the ability to influence.
- Ability to communicate complex data/principles understandably to both finance and non-finance teams.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and controls, both theoretical and practical.
- Advanced Excel and modeling skills related to key finance information.
- Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
