Job summary

2020 Recruitment Limited are seeking a qualified Accountant for a 12-month temporary contract in Inverurie. You will own financial reporting for UK ledgers, ensuring reconciled balance sheets, SOX compliance, and timely reporting.

After training, you will split three days in the office and two days from home. You will work with Finance and Operations across the business and internationally, providing analysis and supporting ad-hoc requests.

Qualifications

  • Recognised accountancy qualification (ICAEW/ICAS/CIMA/ACCA).
  • Experience preparing financial reports and reconciliations.
  • Strong understanding of financial controls and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly income statements and reconciled balance sheets.
  • Complete SOX compliance documentation (monthly/quarterly).
  • Prepare annual statutory audit packs for the Statutory Reporting team.
  • Prepare accurate cash forecasts and monthly VAT returns for UK ledgers.
  • Review and approve payments per financial controls.

Accountant - Inverurie

12-month temporary contract | £23.00-£28.50 per hour

Hybrid working available following training

2020 Recruitment are working with a global client who are looking to add a qualified Accountant to their finance team in Inverurie on a 12-month temporary contract.

This position offers responsibility for the financial reporting of assigned UK ledgers, working with colleagues across the business and internationally.

Following completion of training, you will work three days in the office and two days from home.

The Role

As the Accountant, you will take ownership of accurate and timely financial reporting for your assigned ledgers. You will maintain fully reconciled balance sheets, complete SOX compliance requirements and ensure reporting deadlines are met.

You will work closely with Finance, Operations and other stakeholders to investigate discrepancies, resolve accounting issues and maintain accurate financial information.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Preparing and submitting monthly income statements and fully reconciled balance sheets.
  • Completing monthly and quarterly SOX compliance documentation.
  • Preparing annual statutory audit packs for the Statutory Reporting team.
  • Preparing accurate cash forecasts within required deadlines.
  • Preparing monthly VAT returns for assigned UK ledgers.
  • Reviewing and approving payments in line with financial controls and approval requirements.
  • Investigating and resolving outstanding balance sheet reconciliation items.
  • Providing financial information and analysis for ad-hoc requests.
  • Working with colleagues across Finance and Operations to resolve reporting matters.
  • Supporting finance and business projects as required.
  • Identifying and addressing issues affecting the accuracy of financial information.
Requirements

To be considered for the Accountant position, you must have:

  • A recognised accountancy qualification through ICAEW, ICAS, CIMA or ACCA.
  • Experience preparing financial reports and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • A strong understanding of financial controls and compliance requirements.
  • The ability to manage your workload and meet monthly, quarterly and annual deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues internationally.
  • A proactive approach to investigating discrepancies and resolving issues.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • Live within a commutable distance of Inverurie.

Experience with SOX compliance, VAT returns and statutory audit preparation would be advantageous.

Working Hours
  • Monday to Thursday: 08:30-17:00.
  • Friday: 08:30-15:45.
  • A 45-minute lunch break.
  • 37.5 hours per week.
Package

The successful candidate will be offered:

  • £23.00-£28.50 per hour.
  • A 12-month temporary contract.
  • Hybrid working following training: three office days and two days working from home.
  • An early finish on Fridays.
  • Experience within a global finance team.
