Job summary

Reed in Nottingham is seeking a reliable Part-Time Accountant to manage day-to-day finance functions and ensure accurate financial reporting. The role suits an experienced Accountant or Senior Bookkeeper who can work autonomously and own all aspects of the accounts process.

The position offers a flexible part-time arrangement with a salary of £35,000 - £45,000 FTE (pro rata) and a friendly, supportive working environment.

Qualifications

• Broad accounting experience covering bookkeeping through to management accounts.
• Strong VAT returns knowledge and HMRC requirements.
• Experience with Sage, Xero or QuickBooks.
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Managing the full bookkeeping function.
• Processing purchase and sales ledger transactions.
• Maintaining accurate financial records.
• Completing bank reconciliations.
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
• Credit control and cash flow monitoring.
• Producing monthly management accounts.
• Posting journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Balance sheet reconciliations.
• Supporting budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Preparing information for year-end accounts and liaising with external accountants.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and tax regulations.
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and controls.

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a reliable and experienced Part-Time Accountant to join a well-established Nottingham-based business. This is a hands‑on position offering responsibility for the day-to-day finance function, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance across the business.

The role would suit an experienced Accountant or Senior Bookkeeper who enjoys working autonomously and taking ownership of all aspects of the accounts process.

Key Responsibilities
