Job description

SECURITY CLEARANCE: You will be subject to BPSS and Export Control checks (including a criminal record check), Airbus is establishing a new company, called Airbus Belfast Limited, following a trade and assets acquisition of a key supplier. This entity is projected to have a turnover of approximately £400m. The newly created Airbus Belfast Accounting team requires an Accountant to join its ranks, supporting numerous stakeholders who rely on timely and accurate financial information. Airbus Belfast Limited is entering a period of dynamic change, offering a varied and challenging work environment. The successful candidate will lead project work to establish new processes and drive a leaner, more efficient way of working to meet the company’s financial requirements. A deep understanding of the business’s activities is essential for the Accounting team.

How you will contribute to the team
  • Lead monthly closing and financial statement preparation under IFRS and UK GAAP, while strictly managing mandatory ONS reporting and providing key data inputs to the Tax team for computations.
  • Drive continuous improvement and the harmonisation of procedures across other Airbus entities, acting as the primary coordinator for deliverables from the shared service centre (AGBS).
  • Oversee internal controls and risk reporting via the ERM tool, serving as the main point of contact for both internal and external auditors.
  • Issue clear accounting guidance to support Controlling in key business decisions and projects, based on a deep understanding of business operations.
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial statements by supervising the team’s effective trend analysis and data review.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a finance profession, ideally a Qualified Accountant.
  • Experience in creating accounts, month‑end and consolidation processes.
  • Knowledge of ERP/SAP or equivalent financial software.
  • Leadership or supervising skills.
  • Experience in developing/creating new processes. This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
