Overview of the role

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the team as an Account Planner. This highly autonomous role allows you to enhance your media planning expertise, working across award-winning brands. You will contribute significantly to strategic planning and delivery of multichannel campaigns, with responsibilities designed to help you grow into a well-rounded planner. You will be part of a strong team committed to delivering best-in-class planning, pushing industry boundaries, and maximizing client business returns—an excellent environment for career development.

Reporting of the role

This role reports to the Account Director / Senior Associate Director

Measures of success

In three months, you will:

  • Become an expert in your client’s account and sector.
  • Integrate into the Planning and Implementation teams.
  • Participate in regular client status meetings and ensure accuracy of the status sheet.
  • Be the lead contact for key clients and team members.
  • Understand Essence MediaCom’s department structure and key team members.
  • Contribute effectively to team workload.

In six months, you will:

  • Build strong, trustworthy client relationships and become a key account lead.
  • Establish yourself as a vital team member and support AD/SAD.
  • Gain trust within wider departments.
  • Understand your client’s framework and our remuneration models.
  • Develop a good understanding of the client’s market and media landscape.
  • Identify and implement improved working methods.

In 12 months, you will:

  • Contribute to broader account and department projects.
  • Become an expert in your clients’ media planning.
  • Understand the competitive landscape and bring insights from other categories.
  • Build trusted relationships with clients and agencies.
  • Help achieve excellent client SLA scores.
  • Collaborate on award entries.

Responsibilities of the role

1. Growing Our Clients’ Businesses

  • Build trusted client relationships.
  • Understand clients’ business, marketing, and media roles.
  • Create a ‘Great Work Manifesto’ with your team.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Systems Planning and The System.
  • Learn about digital, data, and marketing technology to support growth.
  • Become the team’s go-to for audience and category insights.
  • Participate in ‘Acceleration’ and ‘Stretch’ sessions.
  • Ensure seamless planning between communications and implementation.

2. Growing Our Business

  • Understand Essence MediaCom’s functions and growth drivers.
  • Support business development efforts.
  • Maintain healthy financials for your accounts.
  • Assist in new business pitches.

3. Growing Our People

  • Support the development of team members.
  • Promote your team’s work internally and externally.
  • Participate in agency-wide initiatives.

4. Growing Yourself

  • Learn a new skill annually and apply it to your work.
