Background and Role

IMCD UK, based in Sutton, Surrey, employs over 230 people. Our sales team consists of market-focused technical experts representing major producers who offer solutions for customer problems using a comprehensive product portfolio. Through expertise and partnerships, IMCD analyzes market trends and provides advice on formulation, production processes, and applications, driving growth for our principal partners.

The role's purpose is to develop and grow existing business within the UK and Ireland Plastics Convertor Industry, mainly focusing on the medical sector, with support for industrial sectors. Managing a range of new product lines and identifying key customer targets, you will work closely with International Market Managers within the IMCD Advanced Materials Group Network.

Your responsibilities at IMCD:
  1. Develop a strategy aligned with budget expectations.
  2. Establish and develop commercial and technical activities with UK and Ireland medical and industrial moulders, with an expected split of 70% medical and 30% industrial.
  3. Identify and canvass new customer and principal targets.
  4. Develop and manage a comprehensive product portfolio for existing and new product lines.
  5. Collaborate with European Affiliates to realize group strategy.
  6. Handle product inquiries and business opportunities, contacting customers directly.
  7. Monitor sales to ensure profitability.
  8. Implement price increases timely and according to processes.
  9. Seek and follow through on new business opportunities, prioritizing accordingly.
  10. Update CRM and pipeline platforms to ensure digital optimization.
  11. Support existing activities at design houses.
  12. Perform any other ad hoc tasks as required.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Strong technical and commercial background, ideally from the UK and Ireland Plastic Convertor Market.
  • Experience in the medical sector is desirable.
  • Degree in polymer chemistry or related field, or minimum 5 years relevant experience.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, and comfortable working remotely, with 40-60% travel expected.
  • Driving license is essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adaptable to various personalities.
  • Driven by sales growth with persistence in facing challenges.
Other information
  • Global staff over 4,700, with over 300 in the UK.
  • Home-based role with regular local and international travel.
  • Standard hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday.
  • 25 days holiday plus benefits.
