Job summary

MEP Hire, part of the VP plc Group, is seeking an Account Manager to drive revenue in a defined London region. You will manage relationships with subcontractors and national accounts, promote our mechanical and electrical press fittings and low-level access products, and work within a pricing framework to deliver value.

You’ll operate with a proactive, results-driven approach, maintain CRM data, and collaborate with teams to maximise customer engagement and project opportunities.

Qualifications

• Solid track record in sales — ideally in construction, equipment hires, or a related field.
• Excellent networking and relationship-building skills with decision-makers at all levels.
• CRM savvy with data hygiene and opportunity pipeline management.
• Experience targeting new prospects and unlocking major subcontractor spend on large-scale projects.

Responsibilities

• Own a defined geographic territory for revenue growth across MEP Hire's products and services.
• Drive growth and hire revenue while maintaining profitability within pricing and discount guidelines.
• Strengthen relationships with existing customers at head office and site level to unlock opportunities.
• Identify and win new customers, focusing on subcontractors on major construction projects.
• Increase awareness of MEP Hire and VP Group as trusted partners in the industry.
• Build local relationships supporting National Account partnerships.
• Use CRM to manage customer data, plan activity, and manage the pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• As an Account Manager, you'll be the face of MEP Hire in your region, owning a defined geographical territory and delivering sustainable revenue growth across our innovative range of products and services. This is a hands-on, relationship-driven role with plenty of scope to make your mark.
• Drive growth and Hire Revenue while maintaining profitability within our pricing and discount framework
• Strengthen relationships with existing customers at both head office and site level to unlock new opportunities and deeper partnership
• Identify and win new customers, with a focus on subcontractors working on major construction projects
• Increase awareness of MEP Hire and the wider Vp Group as trusted, expert partners in the industry
• Build strong local relationships that support the strategic objectives of our National Account partnership
• Use our CRM platform to keep customer data accurate, plan activity, and manage your pipeline effectively
• Operate on a 20-day cycle to ensure smart, efficient journey planning that maximises customer engagement
• Gain technical knowledge of our equipment and stay current on key regulations so you can offer informed, value‑led solutions
• Use your understanding of our products’ features and benefits to highlight what sets MEP Hire apart in the market

What We’re Looking For

We’re after a proactive, ambitious Account Manager, who ideally has some Mechanical & Electrical or Hire industry experience, and thrives on hitting goals and building strong, trust-based customer relationships.

• Lives in South London
• A solid track record in sales — ideally in construction, equipment hires, or a related field
• A natural networker, confident engaging with decision‑makers at all levels
• Experience targeting new prospects and unlocking major subcontractor spend on large‑scale projects
• Comfortable working independently, with strong time management and planning skills
• CRM‑savvy, with a keen eye for keeping data clean, relevant and useful for all
• Experience of developing relationships at project level
• Naturally product orientated with an ability to demonstrate as and when required
• Highly motivated with strong commercial skills
• Action‑orientated and can ’make things happen’
• Excellent presentation skills, influencing techniques, overcoming objections, communication skills all necessary at a developed level
• Valid driving licence
