Job summary

Fintelligent is seeking an Account Handler for a varied commercial portfolio. You will manage renewals, risk information collection, and insurer negotiations to deliver tailored SME cover and high-quality client service.

Hybrid working is available, with study support towards Cert CII. You will contribute to a broad portfolio across Property Owners, Liability, PI and more, becoming a trusted adviser to SME clients.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years’ commercial insurance broking experience.
• Strong technical understanding of commercial lines products.
• Comfortable negotiating with insurers and explaining cover to clients.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of renewals, mid-term adjustments and servicing for commercial clients.
• Gather risk information and build insurer submissions.
• Market risks, negotiate terms and present quotations with clear cover comparisons.
• Arrange covers across Property Owners, Commercial Combined, Liability, PI, Contract Works and Motor Trade.
• Identify underinsurance gaps and cross-sell opportunities for clients.
• Check policy documents and endorsements before issue.
• Support clients with claims notifications and liaise with insurers.

Account Handler – Commercial Insurance

Own a varied commercial portfolio, develop your technical expertise and become a trusted adviser to SME clients. Are you an experienced Commercial Account Handler looking for a role where your technical knowledge is valued—not just your ability to process renewals?

This is an opportunity to work across a genuinely broad range of commercial covers, build long-term client relationships and take ownership of the full broking journey: from risk presentation and insurer negotiation through to renewal retention and identifying additional client needs.

About the Company

Our client is an established, FCA-regulated commercial insurance brokerage supporting SME and commercial clients with tailored insurance solutions. They place a strong emphasis on quality advice, excellent service and positive client outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of renewals, mid-term adjustments and day-to-day servicing for commercial clients
• Gather detailed risk information and build clear, compelling insurer submissions
• Market risks, negotiate terms and present quotations with clear comparisons of cover, exclusions and conditions
• Arrange cover across Property Owners, Commercial Combined, Liability, Professional Indemnity, Contract Works and Motor Trade
• Spot underinsurance, gaps in cover and cross-selling opportunities that add real value for clients
• Check policy documentation, schedules and endorsements before issue
• Support clients with claims notifications and queries, working closely with insurers and internal teams
• Maintain accurate broking-system records and ensure activity meets FCA and Consumer Duty requirements

About You

• At least 2–3 years’ commercial insurance broking experience
• Strong technical understanding of commercial lines products and policy wordings
• Experience handling products such as Property, Liability, Professional Indemnity, Commercial Combined, Contract Works and/or Motor Trade
• Comfortable negotiating with insurers and explaining insurance clearly to clients
• Detail-focused, organised and confident managing competing renewal deadlines
• Acturis experience would be beneficial
• Cert CII qualified, or motivated to work towards it
