  • Strong working knowledge of CRM systems and sales management tools, specifically Salesforce pipeline logging and reporting.
  • Understanding of the Built Environment, urban planning, infrastructure, and PPP sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver against individual and team revenue targets across Partnerships Bulletin, Planning Resource and the Built Environment portfolio.
  • Identify, develop and convert new business opportunities through prospecting, engagement, proposal development and negotiations.
  • Maintain long-term relationships with existing clients at senior levels, driving retention, renewal and cross-selling.
  • Translate client objectives into tailored solutions across digital advertising, demand generation, content partnerships, sponsorships and events.
  • Maintain an accurate Salesforce pipeline with up-to-date stages and forecasts.
  • Stay informed on client sectors, competitor activity, market developments and Haymarket’s commercial proposition to spot opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Editorial, Marketing, Events and broader Commercial teams to deliver compelling client campaigns and partnerships.
  • Ensure high-quality client experience and clear, responsive communication throughout the journey.

The Role

The Account Director is a highly strategic, buyer-led commercial professional responsible for driving significant revenue growth across Partnerships Bulletin, Planning Resource, and the wider Built Environment portfolio. In this role, you will lead on building high-value, multi-stakeholder commercial partnerships and closing complex deals up to C-suite level.

Adopting a consultative approach, you will proactively engage with clients to understand their overarching business challenges and craft tailored multi-channel solutions across digital advertising, demand generation, content partnerships, and event sponsorships. You will efficiently manage all stages of the sales pipeline in Salesforce, deliver accurate revenue forecasting, and collaborate closely with cross-functional internal teams to exceed commercial targets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver against individual and team revenue targets, identifying opportunities to drive sustainable revenue growth across Partnerships Bulletin, Planning Resource and the wider Built Environment portfolio.
  • Proactively identify, develop and convert new business opportunities, managing the full sales lifecycle from prospecting and initial engagement through to proposal development, negotiation and conversion.
  • Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing clients and senior decision-makers, including at C-suite level, identifying opportunities for retention, renewal, cross-selling and account growth.
  • Understand clients’ commercial objectives and challenges and translate these into relevant, tailored solutions across digital advertising, demand generation, content partnerships, sponsorship and events.
  • Maintain an accurate and well-managed sales pipeline within Salesforce, ensuring client activity, opportunity stages and next steps are kept up to date and providing timely and accurate revenue forecasts.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of client sectors, competitor activity, market developments and Haymarket’s wider commercial proposition, using this insight to inform client conversations and identify new commercial opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with Editorial, Marketing, Events and wider Commercial colleagues to develop effective commercial propositions and support the successful delivery of client campaigns and partnerships.
  • Deliver a high standard of customer experience throughout the client journey, ensuring communication is clear and responsive and that commercial commitments are effectively managed.
Key Relationships

Works closely with the Group Commercial Director, Business Director, Editorial teams, Marketing teams, Event Operations, and wider commercial colleagues to deliver aligned commercial strategies, share market insights, and drive revenue growth across Partnerships Bulletin and Planning Resource.

Skills / Experience / Knowledge / Minimum Criteria

Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of B2B media solutions, including digital advertising, demand generation, content partnerships, and event sponsorships.
  • Familiarity with buyer-led sales methodologies, consultative selling principles, and multi-stakeholder negotiation strategies.
  • Strong working knowledge of CRM systems and sales management tools, specifically Salesforce pipeline logging and reporting.
  • Understanding of the Built Environment, urban planning, infrastructure, and public-private partnership (PPP) sectors.

Skills

  • Exceptional communication and consultative negotiation skills with proven ability to engage C-suite decision-makers.
  • Strategic thinking and strong commercial acumen with a buyer-led approach that makes it easy for customers to buy.

Experience

  • Proven track record in a B2B media sales or commercial account management role selling multi-channel commercial solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying, pitching, and closing high-value, multi-stakeholder deals at executive/C-suite level.
  • Proven success in managing robust sales pipelines and maintaining activity/forecasting accuracy within Salesforce.
  • Consistent track record of achieving and exceeding revenue targets, KPIs, and OKRs.
