Campaign is the leading brand for the UK marketing, advertising and media industries, delivering trusted journalism, insight, analysis and thought leadership across digital, audio, video, live events and data. The editorial team is responsible for producing high-quality content that informs, challenges and engages the communications industry while supporting Campaign's reputation as the market-leading publication.
The Role
- As Account Director, you will play a key role in growing Campaign and Creative Review’s commercial performance through strong, long-term client relationships and new business development. You will manage an allocated portfolio of clients, understanding their priorities and developing relevant, creative solutions that deliver value for both clients and Campaign.
- Working closely with the Sales Director and wider commercial team, you will develop opportunities across Campaign and Creative Review’s commercial portfolio, including advertising, conferences, forums, awards, content and creative solutions. Using your understanding of the advertising and marketing landscape, you will develop compelling proposals and partnerships that support client objectives and Campaign's wider commercial strategy.
- As a senior member of the commercial team, you will bring strong commercial insight and relationship-building skills, while sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues and contributing to the continued growth and development of Campaign and Creative Review’s commercial offering.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and grow an allocated portfolio of clients, building strong, long-term relationships and identifying opportunities to increase commercial value.
- Proactively identify and develop new business opportunities across Campaign and Creative Review’s client and prospect base, using market insight, research and networking to build a strong pipeline.
- Understand client objectives and develop compelling, tailored commercial proposals across advertising, conferences, forums, awards, content and creative solutions.
- Take a consultative approach to client relationships, identifying opportunities to develop integrated partnerships that meet client needs and support Campaign and Creative Review’s commercial objectives.
- Lead the commercial process from initial opportunity through to agreement, ensuring proposals, contracts and agreed deliverables are accurate and clearly communicated.
- Work collaboratively with Content Labs, Conferences, Forums & Awards, Ad Ops, Editorial, Marketing and other teams to develop and deliver effective client campaigns and partnerships.
- Contribute market, sector and client insight to Campaign and Creative Review’s wider commercial strategy, identifying emerging trends and opportunities to strengthen and diversify the commercial offering.
- Build and maintain a strong network of clients, prospects and industry contacts, representing Campaign and Creative Review at relevant events, conferences and other external opportunities.
- Maintain accurate client, opportunity and pipeline information in relevant systems to support effective account management, forecasting and commercial planning.
- Collaborate with UK and international commercial teams to identify opportunities for cross-market and wider Haymarket partnerships.
- Share knowledge and best practice across the commercial team and support the development of less experienced colleagues through coaching and mentoring.
- Manage competing priorities effectively, working collaboratively to deliver high-quality client solutions and contribute to wider team and business objectives.
Key Relationships
You will work closely with the Campaign & Creative Review commercial team, including the Sales Director, Group Commercial Director and Digital Sales Director, as well as colleagues across Content Labs, Ad Ops, Editorial, Marketing, Conferences, Forums & Awards. You will also collaborate with UK and international commercial teams and build strong relationships with clients, prospects and industry partners to support Campaign and Creative Review’s commercial growth.

- Strong understanding of the advertising, marketing and media industries and the commercial landscape in which Campaign and Creative Review operate.
- Understanding of B2B media, events and content-led commercial propositions.
- Knowledge of consultative selling and developing integrated commercial partnerships.
- Understanding of client needs, market trends and factors influencing commercial decision-making.
- Awareness of competitor activity and emerging opportunities within the sectors covered by Campaign and Creative Review.
- Understanding of sales pipeline management, forecasting and commercial planning.

- Strong sales and business development skills, with the ability to identify, develop and secure new commercial opportunities.

Experience
- Relevant background in commercial sales, account management or business development within media, publishing, events, marketing or a related sector.
- Proven ability to build and grow commercial client relationships and identify opportunities for revenue growth.
- Strong track record of new business development and securing commercial partnerships.
- Confidence selling complex or integrated propositions across multiple channels.
- Demonstrable ability to manage a portfolio of clients and develop long-term relationships with key stakeholders.
- Ability to develop tailored proposals and solutions in response to client objectives.
- Strong track record of collaborating with internal teams to develop and deliver client campaigns, partnerships or events.
- Familiarity with managing a sales pipeline and maintaining accurate commercial information to support forecasting and business planning.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial environment with competing priorities and deadlines.
- Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced colleagues would be advantageous.
