We are seeking an Accounting Assistant to provide financial insights, ensure accurate reporting, and support data-driven decision-making. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to optimize financial processes to drive business performance.
#ABOUTTHEROLE
- Support the CFO in some areas of finance and accounting including but not limited to:
- Multi-Entity Financial Management: Oversee financial reporting for multiple business entities across various profit centres, ensuring consolidated accuracy across all business areas.
- Banking & Reconciliation: Execute weekly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts, promptly resolving discrepancies and maintaining accurate balances
- Tax Compliance & VAT Administration: Prepare and submit VAT returns within regulatory deadlines, ensuring full compliance with UK tax regulations while maintaining accurate VAT control accounts and supporting documentation. Review VAT returns submitted by other entities
- Expense Processing & Controls: Process staff expenses and company credit card transactions with meticulous attention to receipt verification and journal posting, ensuring adherence to internal policies and expense management frameworks.
- Management Reporting & Month-End: Lead month-end closing procedures and prepare comprehensive management accounts. Develop and maintain KPI reporting systems across all business areas to support strategic decision-making.
- Financial Statement Preparation: Support the preparation of financial statements, including profit & loss accounts and balance sheets, ensuring timely delivery to management
- Balance Sheet Management: Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies to maintain accuracy in financial reporting and support audit readiness.
- System Enhancement & Process Improvement: Drive system optimization initiatives to improve reporting accuracy and streamline financial workflows across the organization.
- Internal Controls & Risk Management: Maintain strict adherence to internal controls and financial policies to safeguard company assets
- Data Integrity & Quality Assurance: Ensure data accuracy across all ledgers and reconciliations, supporting reliable financial reporting and maintaining audit trails for all financial transactions.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with various departments to resolve financial queries, support budgeting and forecasting processes, and facilitate smooth financial operations across the organization.
- Problem Resolution & Process Enhancement: Proactively identify and resolve accounting discrepancies, implementing systematic solutions to reduce errors and enhance operational efficiency.
- Workload Management: Demonstrate exceptional time management and prioritization skills, effectively managing multiple concurrent tasks while meeting critical deadlines during month-end and year-end periods.
#ABOUTYOU
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Part-qualified status in relevant accounting qualification with commitment to continued professional development.
- Accounting expertise: know-how of accounting processes and procedures.
- Experience with Xero software (not mandatory but a plus for the candidate).
- Tech savvy.
- Organized, methodical, able to meet various deadlines, being able to prioritize and manage time effectively, although the Company’s fast-paced processes.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt, interact and manage with different types of individuals from differentiated cultures.
- Dedicated team player and right-minded teamwork mindset.
