Job summary

Cardiff Metropolitan University’s Library Service is seeking an Academic Librarian to play a key role within our Learning and Teaching team. You will develop and deliver teaching sessions to help students improve their information literacy and AI literacy skills, supporting their studies and success at Cardiff Met.

You will engage with students in person and online, contribute to strategic service planning, and collaborate with colleagues to enhance information literacy and academic practice

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy library, preferably in higher education.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop and deliver teaching on information literacy and academic practice.

Job description

The Library Service is looking for an Academic Librarian to play a key role within our Learning and Teaching team.

You will develop and deliver teaching sessions for our students to aid them in improving their information and AI literacy skills in support of them getting the very best from their studies and time here at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

You’ll Contribute By

• Developing and delivering innovative teaching sessions in all areas information literacy and academic practice utilising Universal Design for Learning principles.
• Support student enquiries in person and online in a professional, timely and customer-focused manner.
• Contribute to the wider planning cycle to deliver the strategic objectives of the service.

What You’ll Bring

You will have experience of working in a busy, vibrant Library environment, ideally within a HE environment. You will have good knowledge of education in HE and the current challenges therein.

With excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively in person, and in written format you will be a key support for our students to gain the skills and knowledge they will need to succeed at Cardiff Met.

Additionally You’ll

• hold a degree in Library, information science or management discipline, or demonstrable equivalent experience,
• have excellent knowledge and experience of ICT in HE including Library Management Systems, discovery services and their development.
