Job summary

Teaching Personnel is recruiting an Intervention Support Worker for Sunderland secondary schools, delivering targeted interventions across English, Maths and Science to help students catch up.

This long-term, ASAP-start role requires a strong academic background, tutoring experience in schools, and a patient, structured approach. DBS Update Service preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering targeted interventions or tutoring in a school setting.
• Patient, structured, and confident working with students who find learning challenging.
• Ability to motivate and re-engage students who have disengaged from academic work.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted academic interventions across core subjects on a 1:1 and small group basis.
• Identify gaps in student knowledge and adapt sessions accordingly.
• Track and monitor student progress and feed back to subject teachers.
• Support students working below age-related expectations across KS3 and KS4.
• Liaise with heads of department and the SENCO to ensure a joined-up approach.
• Uphold safeguarding responsibilities at all times.
