The Academic Account Manager has dual responsibilities:

  • Growing revenue through new and renewal sales in their region
  • Promoting the use of Ansys simulation tools in universities for research and teaching

The manager maintains regular contact with university advocates, IT groups, and professors to promote adoption of Ansys tools, working closely with internal teams to meet revenue and adoption goals.

Essential Functions

Execute the regional Sales and Adoption Plan:

  • Develop and implement strategies to increase adoption, including meetings, events, and conference attendance
  • Achieve quarterly and annual revenue targets
  • Coordinate with Customer Excellence, Academic Development, and Corporate Development teams to support academic customers

Drive the territory’s revenue strategy:

  • Identify priority universities for campus-wide solutions
  • Maximize revenue through new deals and renewals
  • Create account development plans for strategic universities
  • Collaborate with Sales Operations on license renewals and growth opportunities
  • Provide activity reports, revenue forecasts, and pipeline updates

Champion research activities:

  • Identify key research groups for Ansys adoption
  • Organize and participate in events to promote Ansys in research
  • Identify opportunities to deploy the full portfolio in research groups
  • Maintain relationships with research groups through the Academic Program team

Promote inclusion in curriculum and student activities:

  • Identify universities for curriculum integration
  • Organize presentations and events to showcase the Academic Program
  • Ensure regular inclusion of Ansys in courses
  • Engage with influential groups and manage student ambassador activities
Minimum Requirements
  • At least 3 years of sales experience
  • Basic knowledge of company products, services, and pricing
  • Excellent sales, communication, and organizational skills
  • Professional appearance and presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel at least 50% to universities
Additional Information
  • Engineering degree or equivalent training preferred
  • Proven sales ability
  • Duties may be modified as needed
