Job summary

HR GO Recruitment is seeking a driver in Margate to operate 7.5T vehicles as part of a temporary ongoing role. You will lead a collection/cleansing crew, follow traffic laws, and ensure safe, efficient operations across the service area.

The role offers a rota-based schedule, 37 hours per week, and hourly pay between £14.15 and £15.92 with enhanced overtime and bank holiday rates.

Qualifications

• Full clean UK driving licence with C1 entitlement.
• Driver Qualification Card (CPC) valid.
• Tachograph card valid and in date.

Responsibilities

• Lead a collection/cleansing crew to deliver a high-quality waste collection service across Thanet.
• Drive 7.5T vehicles in line with licence entitlement and Highway Code.
• Ensure safe, efficient working practices in line with Health and Safety at Work Act.
• Supervise loaders/assistants on duty and ensure tasks meet service standards.
• Provide supervision to new starters until familiar with rounds.
• Use on-board IT system to manage schedules, assisted collections and log issues.
• Complete priority assisted collections and report round issues to supervisor.
• Report incidents and near misses immediately.
• Carry out daily vehicle/equipment checks and keep vehicle clean.
• Empty vehicle at end of day within designated depot/load limits.
• Maintain records (hours and driving/admin documentation) and engage with the public.

• Location: Margate
• Contract: Temporary ongoing
• Hours: 37 hours per week
• Pay: £14.15 - £15.92 per hour (enhanced overtime and bank holiday rates apply)
• Shifts: Worked on a rota/shift pattern as part of a Monday-Sunday working week to meet service needs

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead a collection/cleansing crew to deliver a high-quality waste collection service across Thanet.
• Drive 7.5T vehicles in line with your licence entitlement, the Highway Code and all relevant legislation.
• Ensure safe, efficient working practices in line with the Health and Safety at Work Act and local policies/procedures.
• Supervise loaders/assistants on duty and ensure tasks are completed within agreed service standards.
• Provide additional supervision to new starters until they are familiar with the round(s).
• Use the on-board vehicle IT system (e.g., Bartec in-cab/Bin app or similar) to manage schedules, assisted collections and log missed/damaged bins.
• Complete all priority assisted collections and report any round issues to the Workforce Supervisor.
• Report incidents and near misses immediately.
• Complete daily vehicle/equipment checks, defect reports, and keep the vehicle clean and tidy (including end-of-day wash-down).
• Empty the vehicle at the end of the day at the designated depot/waste transfer station within legal load limits.
• Maintain accurate records (hours and driving/admin documentation) and engage professionally with the public.
