Job summary

Carrington Blake Recruitment is seeking an experienced 7.5T Driver for a Council Street Cleansing team to carry out scheduled bulky household waste collections. You will operate a 7.5T vehicle as part of a two-person crew, loading items and ensuring safe handling of bulky waste.

The role requires manual handling, a valid licence for the vehicle, and a commitment to safety and customer service in residents' properties. Working hours are standard, with potential adjustments in hot weather.

Pay Rate: £16.35 per hour PAYE
Hours: 37 hours per week
Location: Council/Local Authority - Street Cleansing Team
Contract: Temporary/Ongoing

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced 7.5T Driver to join a Council's Street Cleansing team, carrying out scheduled bulky household waste collections.

Working as part of a two-person collection team, you will drive a 7.5T vehicle and collect large household items booked by residents through the Council's website. This will include items such as furniture, white goods and other bulky household waste.

This is a hands-on role, so you will be expected to assist with the loading and safe handling of bulky/heavy items, as well as driving the vehicle.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive a 7.5T vehicle safely and responsibly.
• Carry out scheduled bulky waste collections from residents' properties.
• Collect furniture, white goods and other bulky household items.
• Work as part of a two-person crew to load items safely.
• Follow manual handling and health & safety procedures.
• Ensure collected waste is transported safely and securely.
• Provide a professional and courteous service when dealing with residents.
• Complete collections according to the allocated schedule.

Working Hours

• 37 hours per week
• Monday-Thursday: 7:00am-3:00pm
• Friday: 7:00am-2:30pm
• Includes a 30-minute lunch break
• During hot weather, shifts may change to:
  • Monday-Thursday: 6:00am-2:00pm
  • Friday: 6:00am-1:30pm

Essential Experience

• Experience driving a 7.5T vehicle or equivalent Class 2 vehicle.
• Appropriate and valid driving licence for the vehicle being driven.
• Comfortable undertaking manual handling and physical work.
• Reliable and able to work as part of a two-person team.
• Good awareness of health & safety and safe working practices.

Previous bulky waste/furniture collection experience is desirable but not essential. Experience in 7.5T delivery, collections, removals, waste services or similar physically demanding driving roles would also be relevant.

Rate

£16.35 PAYE per hour
